About the Wine:
Inzolia Catarratto – Baglio del Sole:
A combination of two noble white grapes, Inzolia e Catarratto, whose enormous potential is only now being discovered (Cataratto in the past was used to produce Marsala). Now blended in similar quantities, which may vary from vintage to
vintage, they create a quite unique wine with an interesting personality. The intense flavor of the wine reveals notes of ripe apricots, mandarin oranges, spices and light nuances of ginger.
Gordo Macabeo Bodegas Ignacio Marin:
The wine has a soft attack on the palate, with a highly suitable acidity that makes it light and lively, with fruity scents. Recommended for fish and shellfish with vegetables.
Bajondillo 85% Garnacha, 10% Syrah & 5% Cabernet:
The family property of Jiménez-Landi lies in the little-known Méntrida denominación in the north-eastern reaches of the province of Toledo (just south of Madrid). Quality here is undergoing a quiet transformation thanks to new, younger winemakers willing to modernise in vineyard and winery. All the grapes are hand harvested, then carefully fermented spending five months in French oak, which produces a wine with lots of flavour and character. Their Bajondillo red is proving very popular with Society members.
A pale-coloured Spanish garnacha which is full of personality. Herby and attractively rustic, with delicate raspberry fruit, this artisan-style red makes for deliciously interesting drinking.
Castel Vento Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage:
Ruby colour. Nose of ripe cherries, sweet spices and cigar box. Almost off dry feel, medium acidity, medium tannins, red fruits and tobacco on the palate. Medium plus finish.
